All of the current fibromyalgia research that is being published seems to have one unified theme: fibromyalgia is a neurological problem (at least it has a huge neurological component.) The breakthrough comes when you start to realize that the brain is like a big muscle.

A good way to look at the brain is to think of it as a muscle…as lot's of different muscles. Sometimes the muscles are really strong and other times they are really weak. When the muscles…or different areas in the brain, become weak…it willbegin to cause symptoms. Things like pain, fatigue, fast heart beat, insomnia, brain fog, and dizziness. The symptoms you get, depends on the area affected…and to what degree.

If we can identify the areas that are weak we CAN strengthen them through all sorts of non-drug methods. We can use sensory and motor stimuli to activate or strengthen these brain regions and help them to work properly.

We may do specific core exercises, non-linear complex movement, or eye movements to activate or strengthen different areas of the cerebellum. We may use targeting exercises or tactile stimulation to strengthen a weak parietal lobe.

The treatment is dictated by the diagnosis. In fibromyalgia, dizziness, chronic fatigue syndrome…almost any chronic illness…there is going to be some neurological dysfunction, many of these disorders like the ones I mentioned, have a primary neurological component. Of course there is still the issue of inflammation, hormones, blood sugar, adrenals, cortisol…etc that could affect our brain rehab…and we look at those things as well.

It just makes sense that neurological weakness would be treated this way. How is a drug ever going to fix a weak or degenerating cerebellum? If you have a weak bicep is there a pill to magically make it strong? Of course not. You have to exercise it. The same with the brain. This is why our drug-free brain based rehabilitation approach is so successful with neurological disorders. It is exactly what is needed.

    Jim,

Give the office a call at 559-297-9218 and schedule a consultation. We can discuss this further. There are many factors that can be causing what you describe. That is why my patients come here… they want someone to look at everything and help them actually feel good again not just try to cover up or ignore the problem.

  3. What is the success rate on the Brain Based Therapy? How long is the treatment?
    Thanks

  4. robertboydston says:

    Gisele,

The success rate of brain based therapy has been very high for us as we have refined and perfected our applications of functional neurology and functional medicine over years. It is of course a factor of the underlying physiologic shifts in the brain and metabolic system. We have a truly individualized approach. That is why our case review and examination process is so important.

  5. Colleen says:

Approx. how much would the entire program cost?

  6. robertboydston says:

    Colleen,

Our Neuro-Metabolic Solutions Program is very customized to the individual. There is no way to know up front what the cost would be and if you are a good fit for the program. I am not sure you are on the email list but here is an email that recently went out offering a Free 10 Minute Consultation. If you have some specific questions this may be a good first step for you. I copied the email below.
    ****************************************************

I am writing to you because you haven’t applied for our Fibromyalgia Neuro-Metabolic Solutions Program yet, and there are a couple possible reasons why that may be:

Reason #1: You know that we are highly selective in our application process, and you are worried that you may not be accepted into the program after going through the entire application and examination.

Reason #2: You fear paying for the examination and then finding out that you just weren’t a good fit for the program.

Reason #3: You have just a couple questions that you would like to ask before you take the first step in our program.

If you haven’t applied to our program for one, two, or all of the reasons above, I believe I have created the perfect solution for you.

    A Free 10 Minute Pre-Examination Phone Consultation

I blocked out a small amount of time to do Pre-Examination phone consultations, and one of those time slots will be for you if you read this entire email and then act fast.

This phone consultation will allow us to spend a few minutes together on the phone to discuss your concerns and help determine if you qualify for one of our examination appointments, meaning I want to determine if I think I might be able to help you.

It’s really the best of both worlds. For you it’s a zero-cost way to determine whether or not you might be a good applicant to our Neuro-Metabolic Solutions Program, and for us we get to make sure only the most qualified applicants get one of our examination appointments.

Here’s how to get your Free Pre-Examination Phone Consultation:

    1. Complete our online Fibromyalgia Pre-Consultation Questionnaire (the link is below)
    2. I will personally review your questionnaire responses.
    3. Celia our new member advocate will call you the next business day, and assign you the next available consultation appointment. (this may require some flexibility on your part since their will only be certain times set aside for these phone consultations)
    4. If after reviewing your questionnaire responses I feel you are definitely not a good candidate for our program, when Celia calls she will inform you at that time and will not assign a phone consultation in those cases.

So to get started and schedule your free phone consultation, CLICK HERE TO FILL OUT YOUR FIBROMYALGIA QUESTIONAIRRE

Do it now. I will be reviewing the questionnaires on a first come, first serve basis, and I have only reserved a limited amount of time in the next 2 weeks for the phone consultations. Once all the phone consultation slots are all taken, we will create a waiting list, but to be quite honest I don’t know if we will make this available again.

  7. Alanna Briggs says:

The article is good.  I believe, too, that rehabilitating the brain with exercise is a good treatment for Fibromyalgia.  I filled out the questionnaire a week or so back and submitted it.  Do you want me to do it again?

  8. robertboydston says:

    Alanna,

I reviewed your questionnaire and forwarded it to Celia to call you. If she has been able to get a hold of you, then call her at (559) 297-9218. I have already approved the consultation, so she will set a time for you. I look forward to speaking to you.

  9. robertboydston says:

    Penny,

The important thing is determining what is causing the inflammation. What parts of the brain are malfunctioning that is leading to pain? A complete workup is required to get to specifics… and then we can work on making corrections.
